Frost Family Festival (2022)

THE FROST FAMILY FESTIVAL IS BACK!  All rising 7th graders and their families are invited to the Frost Family Festival this Wednesday, February 16th, from 5:30-7:30PM. It’s been two years since our last in-person festival and we are excited to welcome new families once again! The festival will include classroom demos, table displays, school tours and other activities to help our rising 7th graders learn about life at Frost Middle School. Principal Harris and his administrative team will be on hand to answer questions. Please see our flyer or more information.

One and two-slice pizza meals (including drink and dessert) will be offered in the cafeteria so come for dinner and/or purchase some a la carte items onsite, including new Frost car magnets! Due to space constraints during our renovation, we will only be accepting pre-paid meal orders. Please order online here: https://frostms.ptboard.com.

This event is also a fundraiser for the PTA that provides valuable financial support & volunteers for the many wonderful programs at Frost. To help ensure this event is a special one for our future Falcons and their families, we need your help! Please visit these two signups to see where you could support:
Please contact Tharini Sathiamoorthy, Frost PTA Vice President at vpfrostmspta@gmail.com if you have any questions.

The Frost Middle School PTA has partnered with BritePath's Food4Thought program, which works with volunteers and staff at participating Fairfax County Public Schools, to provide healthy meals, drinks and snacks over weekends during the school year to children in food insecure situations. How can you help?

  • Drop-off donated food at the school office during school hours. Most-Needed Items: Individual mac and cheese, soup, spaghettios, shelf-stable individual prepared meals (eg. Dinty Moore, Chef Boyardee, Hamburger Helper), canned tuna or chicken, oatmeal packets, cereal cups/packets, spaghetti sauce, pasta, tortillas, peanut butter, jelly, fruit/apple sauce cups, granola bars, snack packs (eg. crackers, pretzels, popcorn), shelf-stable milk, 100% juice boxes, and other non-perishable foods/healthy snacks
  • Donate Food via the Amazon Wish List
  • Volunteer to help sort bags.

If you are interested in volunteering to be Frost's Food4Thought coordinator, please contact Chris Lieu, Frost PTA President at presidentfrostmspta@gmail.com.

Grant Program (2021-2022)

With the generous support of Frost families and the community, the PTA is again able to reserve funding for its Grants Program. We are pleased to invite teachers, staff, and parents with current PTA membership to submit Grant Applications.

In general, PTA Grants will be used for items that have a direct relationship to students' program of study; impact a large group of students; have a positive impact on students' education and/or middle school experience; align with Frost's goals and mission; and cannot be funded through the school's budget. Past Frost programs funded through Grants included: field trips; academic competitions; student clubs; literacy and world language resources/programs; positivity project/mentorship programs; Science/STEAM/Consumer Sciences supplies.

The Spring 2022 Grant Application deadline is February 18th at 5:00 PM. Submit your Application Online Questions?  Contact Tharini Sathiamoorthy, Frost PTA Vice President, vpfrostmspta@gmail.com

Read-A-Thon (2022)

To encourage and celebrate reading, as well as to raise some funds for Frost MS, the Frost PTA is sponsoring its second ever read-a-thon from February 14-28. See the attached flyer for information about how the read-a-thon will work and prizes that will be available. The money raised will be used to help fund various PTA-sponsored instructional resources and materials, such as digital library books, world language instruction materials, science/STEAM/Consumer Sciences supplies, and more.

Read-a-Thon 2022 Information

The Frost PTA is planning to use 99Pledges.com as the fundraising platform again this year for this fundraiser in order to make it easy to collect and track pledges entirely online. The platform works best when we use email addresses for the student population (parent or guardian emails, not FCPS student-issued emails) that can be pre-loaded into the system; this allows us to set up an individual donation page for each student that can be shared with family and friends via e-mail or social media.

As demonstrated last year, 99Pledges will not share email addresses with any third party or use them to market their products to the population. The emails are strictly used to set up the donation page and send periodic reminders regarding the Frost fundraiser. In addition, the created donation pages are not indexed by search engines and can only be seen if the link is shared by the individual.

If you do not want your student to participate in the Read-a-Thon fundraiser, please send an e-mail to Susan Morningstar (sjmorningsta@fcps.edu) and Julie Minde (julie.m.minde@gmail.com) by Wednesday, February 9.

Important note!

  • Families who have already submitted the FCPS Directory Opt-Out form at the beginning of the school year will automatically not be submitted to 99Pledges.
  • Families who would like to participate in the read-a-thon but would not like to go through 99Pledges, please contact Julie at the above email address or 703.554.5667.
  • Families who elect not to participate in this fundraiser will continue to be included in other FCPS-sanctioned functions, such as the Yearbook.
  • If you would like to opt-out of other FCPS functions, please follow the link, below, and submit the appropriate FCPS form(s) to Susan Morningstar. https://www.fcps.edu/registration/opt-out-forms

Please feel free to contact us if you have any additional questions.
